A Guide for Fishing in Paradise!

About Fishing in Key West

The unique geology of the keys offers a number of different habitats from shallow flats to deeper channels and even easy access to the gulfstream. This mix of habitats and the large number of species that call them home combined with a mild year round climate means that fishing is usually good every day of the year.

Charters and boat rentals are plentiful and shore fishing from one of the local piers or the deeper channels off the Mallory Square or Truman waterfront is always productive. The local waters are so rich that Key West host a number of tournements each year.

You can sight fish the flats for tarpon, permit and the elusive grey ghost or drift over a wreck tempting snappers, groupers and mahi or head out to the gulfstream and strap yourself in for world renowned big game fishing with pictures of Hemingway with a marlin on line filling your thoughts.
